Family Camp '08

Every year come end of July a big group of us pack up and head to Fort Stevens, OR. We usually stay for about three days. Being that we are so close to the ocean the weather can unfortunately be very unpredictable. This year we had a little of everything. The first day was beautiful weather, sunny, warm. We had one night that was FREEZING cold and then another that was pouring rain. a few people ended up wet but for the most part we all survived.

All that aside it was a wonderful time. Camp fires are always fun with the hot dogs, s'mores and campfire biscuits. I think when you are camping you tend to eat more, at least I do. There are all sorts of things to eat all the time. I also think being outside makes food taste better. I don't normally like hotdogs or pancakes, but when I'm camping... Yum!

The kids had a blast riding their bikes for hours on end. Daniel would put on his helmet first thing in the morning and wouldn't take it off until bed time. Ian was still a little on the young side to really let play in the dirt and stuff but next year I'm sure he will have fun! Savi and her buddy Mackenzie put on a lemonade stand. I was so proud of them. To get the money to buy the lemonade and cups mackenzie collected and turn in aluminum cans. Savi had received a cardboard lemonade stand for her birthday and she saved it for camp. They colored it and made the lemonade and did everything with minimal help from Jamie and I. They definitely earned the money they made and had a lot of fun in the process.

We are all looking forward to next year already!
